Dominic Oroni, a Senior Manager at Tiger Security Group Mbale office has been arrested for hiring out guns to criminal elements that terrorise people in easter Uganda.

According to Jude Wandera, the UPDF spokesperson in Elgon and Bukedea areas, the army got a tip off that 23-year old Oroni hires out guns and uniforms for as low as Shs50.000 for every criminal activity that is carried out by thugs, who conduct their ‘business’ at a forest reserve along Mbale-Tororo road in Mbale city.

The UPDF officer added that before Oroni was apprehended, the conniving thugs had promised him Shs250, 000 but only paid Shs52, 000 as a deposit for the now-aborted mission, that was reportedly to be carried out on the biggest mobile money shop in Mbale town.

“Our intelligence team got information and managed to arrest one of the suspects who later disclosed that they hire guns from Dominic Oroni, a manager of Tiger Security Group.  The culprit told security that after the mission Dominic is called to pick the money and the guns from the meeting place in the forest and that is how he was also arrested,” the UPDF area spokesperson Wandera said.

According to Wandera, the suspects are being held at Maluku military detention facility awaiting arraignment before the military court martial.

By press time efforts to get comment from the Tiger Security Group office in Mbale were futile. However, previously men working with private security groups have come under criticism for reportedly abetting crime.
