The Police at the Central Police Station, Mbarara are holding one of their own for knocking dead his junior.
Inspector of Police (IP) Charles Drabo was 6pm Monday evening chasing a speeding commuter tax when he knocked and injured Corporal Fred Tuheirwe attached to Isingiro Police Station as he took care of a police check point.
The incident happened at Mile 19, a police check point in Isingiro District.
“Afande Drabo was chasing a speeding car whose number has not yet been identified. The car had excess passengers but when he reached the checkpoint and while trying to block the taxi from crossing, he ended up knocking and injuring the corporal who was in charge of the checkpoint,” an eyewitness said.
Tuheirwe was however pronounced dead on arrival at Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital.
Sources say Drabo is being held to help in investigation.
