UPDF Colonel’s shamba boy dies in house fire

Death by fire Vide DEF 36/2019 has been recorded at the Central Police Station, Mbarara.

The matter was reported Monday morning that Petero Bagirobwira, 80, had gotten burnt beyond recognition in his hut.

Subsequently, Col. (RTD) Dick Bugingo who was at the time in Lyantondde drove to the Central Police Station, Mbarara before picking a medical doctor and a police scene of crime officer. Upon reaching Rukindo Cell, Nyakayojo Division, it was established that the old man slept off while cooking in his grass thatched hut. Sources say no foul play has been cited in the matter after postmortem while burial has already taken place.

Speaking to police, Col. Bugingo said the deceased had been his employee for over 30 years.
