Uganda participated in the ICAO Air Services Negotiation Event (ICAN) that was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from 21 to 25 October 2024.
The Uganda delegation, led by UCAA’s Deputy Director General, Mrs. Olive Birungi Lumonya included officials from the Ministry of Works and Transport, Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development and Uganda Airlines. ICAN, an ICAO annual Global Event, includes Bilateral Air Services Agreement (BASA) negotiations and consultations between states with respect to air services At this years event, Uganda has concluded new BASAs, reviewed BASAs, and signed MoUs as highlited below; – BASA Negotiations were held with Latvia (New), United Kingdom (Review), Qatar (Review), The Sudan (New), and Ethiopia (Review).
Bilateral consultations were held with India, Botswana, Russia (New), and Malaysia (New).
Uganda signed the BASA between Uganda and Oman.
