Government spokesman, Ofwono Opondo said there are more gun deaths in the US than kidnaps in Uganda. This was in response to President Donald Trump’s earlier tweet tasking Ugandan government to find kidnappers of American, Kimberley Sue Endicott and her driver, Paul Mirenge.
However, according to Ofwono, with gun deaths in the US, people still flock the States. Ofwono assured Trump of the fight against criminality. “Uganda continues to strengthen its security and eliminate criminality with impunity,” Ofwono said.
Trump had suggested that should Uganda fail to bring to book Kimberley’s kidnappers, Uganda would lose visitors flocking the country.
TRUMP
“Uganda must find the kidnappers of the American Tourist and guide before people will feel safe in going there. Bring them to justice openly and quickly!” he tweeted.
