Ugandans are mourning fallen former UNEB Executive Secretary, David Livingstone Ongom.
Upon learning about his death last night, Daniel Roy Odur said Ongom helped shape the future of many.
“David Livingstone Ongom introduced an unprecedented examination syllabus giving details on what the exam is based on and what counts for success. He almost single-handedly pushed for the revitalization of the mode of setting examinations from one that loosely probes the pupils’ or students’ general knowledge to one that tests their aptitude to think,” Odur said.
Senior journalist and co-Red Pepper owner Arinaitwe Otim Rugyendo described Ongom as a giant.
“You probably sat for a UNEB exam between 1984 and 1996; then David Livingstone Ongom needs no introduction. He possibly had a hand in determining who you are today: whether you are an educational residue or graduate employee,” he said.
Ongom is said to have passed on last evening Nakasero Hospital after spending sometime at the facility’s Intensive Care Unit.
