UPDF soldier, Police officer arrested over kidnap for ransom

The Central Police Station, Kalisizo are holding three people for the kidnap of Tanzanian national based in Kyotera.

The suspects; No. 42776 Edson Ntibankundiye attached to CPS-Kampala, L/CPL John Beyeza attached to 5th Battalion (Arua) and a one Victor Nkundamukama are accused of kidnapping Idd Sseruwo, 38, a resident of  Nakalinzi village, Mutukula Sub-County in Kyotera district.

Greater Masaka Region Police spokesman Paul Kangave confirmed the arrest.

He said the trio was arrested Thursday morning from a Guest House in Lyantondde town while coordinating with family of their victim.

“The suspects and the victim were hiding in a Guest House while asking for 20m ransom,” he said.

No amount of money was recovered.

Kangave said the suspects face charges of kidnap Contrary to Section 243 (1) (c) of the Penal Code Act.

The matter has been registered Vide CRB 341/19
