UWEC releases 114 animals in the Murchison Falls Conservation Area

Uganda Wildlife Conservation Centre (WEC) has released a total of 114 animals in the Murchison Falls Conservation Area.

Among them were genet cats and various reptiles, including 75 Gabon vipers, 11 bell-hinged tortoises, 16 March terrapins, 4 Egyptian Cobras, 3 African Rock Pythons, and 1 Puff Adder.

According to UWEC, when releasing animals into the wild, it’s important to consider factors like habitat suitability, food and water sources, animal health, and their ability to adapt to natural behaviors. The animals must be healthy and free of diseases and deformities to ensure their survival.

The animals are safe, and tourists are equally safer, said UWEC.
