Vipers draw Proline in Fufa Super 8 tourney

The second edition of the Fufa super 8 tournament was launched on Monday, 15 July at the Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL) head offices in Luzira and the draws were held.

The mini tournament comprises of 8 teams; the top 6 ranked teams from the previous season of the Uganda Premier League and the top 2 ranked teams from the previous season of the FUFA Big League with no registration fee required to participate.

Wakiso Giants and Proline are the two sides from the Fufa Big League while KCCA, Vipers, URA, Tooro United, Mbarara city and Onduparaka are the six teams from the Uganda Premier League.

Vipers SC have been drawn against Proline FC while League champions KCCA FC will take on new entrants Wakiso Giants. Onduparaka will face Tooro United FC while Mbarara City will entertain tax collectors URA FC.

The tournament is played on a knockout basis and it is scheduled to be played between 24th July and 24th August 2019.

KCCA FC emerged winners of the first ever inaugural Pilsner Super 8 Cup last year after defeating Onduparaka FC 2-0 in the final played at Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku with goals from Saddam Ibrahim Juma and Allan Okello.

The Prize money for this year is sh68m, which will be shared by all the 8 clubs with the winner taking sh20m.

The tournament acts as a curtain-raiser for the upcoming Uganda Premier League season.
