The Electoral Commission has commenced preparations for the design and printing of the 2026 presidential ballot paper, following the clearance of eight candidates who will appear on it.
The Electoral Commission confirmed that they have started preparations for ballot paper design, with printing firms set to be shortlisted soon.
On September 24, the Commission nominated incumbent Yoweri Kaguta Museveni (NRM), Nathan Nandala Mafabi (FDC), Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu (NUP), Gregory Mugisha Muntu (ANT), Mubarak Munyagwa (CMP), Elton Joseph Mabirizi (CP), Frank Kabinga Bulira (RPP) and Robert Kasibante (NPP) as candidates for the 2026 presidential general election.
According to EC spokesperson Julius Muchunguzi, the next stage after candidate clearance is to design the ballot paper before handing it over to a selected company for printing which the Commission is currently scrutinizing and shortlisting firms that would handle the task.

He added that the EC will also meet agents of the cleared presidential candidates to harmonize and agree on campaign guidelines ahead of the official campaign period, which is slated for September 29, 2025.
