Mayor warns politicians against politicizing face masks distribution

In abide to intensify the fight against the spread of COVID_19 /Corona
virus in the country, the Entebbe Municipality Mayor has warned all
politicians  against politicizing the distribution of face masks to locals.

He made the warning today while receiving 70,000 face masks at the
Municipal Headquarters,  and noted that the masks would be distributed to
24 villages within the municipality.

“Masks should be given to people irrespective of their political
affiliation. The general public should avoid wearing dirty masks and no one
should appear in the public with a dirty one.we thank the government of
Uganda and Ministry of Health for delivering these masks”

Mayor Kayanja said that though the government has delivered face masks to locals of Entebbe, some of the locals don’t have food and called on
government to intervene. “The situation is so pathetic since many people go without a meal. I call upon the government to swiftly intervene before people die due to hunger”

Mayor Kayanja asked the government to consider elevating Katabi Health
Center111 to a hospital level saying that during the lockdown people have
suffered to get health services since Entebbe Grade B hospital was
allocated to treating Covid_19 patients.
“The government should allocate more allowances to medics at Katabi Health 111 to treat people with other diseases”

Dr. John Kalyesubula, who heads the Health department at Entebbe Municipal council thanked the ministry of health for delivering face masks and reminded Entebbe locals to observe the health guidelines in order to fight Corona virus in the country.
“Frequently wash hands, use sanitizers and keep social distance in order to
defeat Corona virus or COVID_19 , a global pandemic.
