MP declared dead on Facebook speaks out: I’m alive

Part of Tuesday, mostly on social media was oiled with the fact that Kyaka North lawmaker Paul Asaba had died in a road accident between Kampala and Kyegegwa.

This would later turn out fake news’

The ‘dead’ MP has spoken, describing the rumor as politically motivated and influenced by social media.

“Am alive and I have not got any accident. It’s just because of politics. I don’t have double cabin, I have a Prado TX UAZ 650C, now parked in basement. I was in the canteen eating food. This is politics and social media,” Asaba’s message reads.

Asaba is not the first person to be announced dead on social media. Days ago, former Presidential Press Secretary Joseph Tamale Mirundi was announced dead in a similar manner. This, after he had been hospitalized at a Kisubi hospital. He has since been discharged.
