A total of 23 Ugandan and Kenyan Police Officers have been trained in forensic skills to fight drug trafficking.
The two-week training ended yesterday at Police headquarters Naguru.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Commissioner of Police Tumuhimbise who represented the Inspector General of Police John Martin Okoth Ochola applauded the German Government for its continuous support to Uganda Police Force.
“Germany has been our close friend. We thank them for the assistance rendered. Drug trafficking is a transnational crime. One country may not curb the crime alone,” he said.
Carl Hein, the Chief Trainer lauded Police officers for the professionalism and readiness to learn.
“It was a good combination of experienced and young officers. So there was a good intellect between us,” he noted.
On the choice of Uganda and Kenya, training was part of the East African project against narcotics.
“They decided to take Uganda and Kenya because it has a little tradition in our back. It is an East African project,” Carl explained.
