Police in Oyam district are on the hunt for a man identified as Denis Otim for allegedly possessing an illegal firearm in Boroboro village, Pukica Parish, Kamdini Sub County.
The suspect a resident of Boroboro village, Kamdini sub county and a former security guard with New Securiko –Bugolobi in Kampala was allegedly in possession of an SAR Riffle registration number NO UG.POL963-100900 with 2 rounds of ammunition.
However, the gun was recovered on Sunday the 23rd Jan 2022 afternoon by one Geoffrey Okello, the Defense Secretary Boroboro village who later took the rifle to Omara Tonny, the Gombolola Internal Security officer (GISO) Kamdini town council.
The GISO later handed over the rifle to Police in Kamdini police station.
Otim remains at large.
Jimmy Patrick Okema, the North Kyoga Police Spokesperson said police are hunting for the suspect and called upon members of the public to alert the police quietly should they get to know the suspect’s whereabouts .
Okema said they are very much interested in understanding the motive of suspect (Otim) being in possession of an illegal gun.
He adds that a case has been registered under CRB 14/2022with a charge of being in possession of an illegal firearm.
