Kampala—The Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) has announced an extension of working hours throughout June 2026 to help expedite trade and address clearance backlogs during weekends and holidays.
A statement issued on Monday revealed that URA offices will be open for full-day operations on June 9 and every Saturday of the month. The measure is aimed at accelerating the clearance of pending transactions and improving service to stakeholders.
Commissioner General John Musinguzi Rujoki stated that customs teams will be fully deployed to manage tasks such as unentered cargo, the exit of unverified goods, and goods releases. He appealed to bonded warehouse operators to prepare in advance and coordinate logistics to maximize the benefit of the extended working days.
Musinguzi further encouraged customs clearing agents and importers to take advantage of this special window to process outstanding clearances without delay.
The initiative reflects URA’s commitment to enhancing operational efficiency and supporting Uganda’s business community during peak trading periods.
