Vipers’ Taddeo Lwanga joins Egyptian side Tanta SC

By Francis Otucu

Vipers Sports Club have confirmed the departure of defensive midfielder, Taddeo Lwanga.

In a statement shared via the club’s official website, Vipers confirmed Lwanga’s two-year contract downed and that the two parties consented to departure despite club’s interest in extending his stay at Kitende based side.

He now joins Egyptian side, Tanta Sports Club where he signed a three year contract.

Lwanga joined Vipers from SC Villa at the start of the 2017/18 season, during which time he established himself as an integral part of the team and proved to be one of the most technically-gifted players in the Uganda Premier League.

He was part of the team that guided the team to the 2017/18 League title, a quarterfinal slot in the Cecafa Kagame Cup and Uganda Cup runners up.

The skipper also played a big role as the club finished second in the League last season.

Head Coach Edward Golola described Lwanga’s reign at Vipers as tremendous.

“Taddeo has been a tremendous player for this football club on and off the pitch, his consistency and work ethic has got him this far. I would like to personally thank Taddeo for everything he has done here at Vipers SC,” he said.
