Opposition Bloc: Amuriat Says FDC Too Big

By Francis Otucu

In a statement, Patrick Oboi Amuriat (POA) asked those he described as in the struggle to ignore insults against Forum for Democratic Change and RTD Col. Kizza Besigye.

He was responded to alleged attacks resulting from the recently signed block between a section of opposition political party.

“Those unprovoked outbursts are not worth our response regardless of whether they come from People Power, DR or DP Bloc, political failures, and/or novices, paid agents of the tormentor, it doesn’t matter. Whether these characters continue provoking us into time wasting arguments we must hit the ground running. Let’s do what we are best known for, mobilizing outside boardrooms, to win any form of struggle, as we have done before,” the FDC President said.

Amuriat noted that the target is to unseat incumbent, President Yoweri Museveni.

”Those who choose to indulge in negative energy will never succeed at all, FDC is too big to be shaken by mere unconvincing criticism. We will keep our eyes on the ball and not pay attention to spoilers and paid groups working for the regime in power to try and derail the struggle. Our urgent business now is doing away with the rotten dictatorship and freeing our people now in bondage, offering a transition to Ugandans and re-engineering the entire fabric of our society,” he added.

Last Thursday, Opposition leaders unveiled a “new” Democratic Party (DP) bloc through a Memorandum of Understanding that brought together three registered political parties; DP, People’s Development Party (PDP) and Social Development Party (SDP).

The bloc seeks to among others, building mutual cooperation in the run up to the 2021 general elections against President Yoweri Museveni and the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party and possible fronting of one presidential candidate.
